We are incredibly proud to celebrate a group of our trailblazing Year 10 students who have already completed their work experience placements with the Local Authority. From gaining insights into urban planning to supporting community services, these students represented our school with professionalism and ambition. Hearing about their growth and the skills they’ve developed has been a true highlight of the term!

As we look toward the next wave of placements for, please remember that all work experience details must be logged on Unifrog by March 31st for both Year 10 and Year 12. To help with the process, we have provided two support booklets: 

• Year 10 Supporting Booklet

• Year 12 Supporting Booklet

Students in Year 7 and Year 8, need to complete their placement details on a Google Form. Information has been sent to parents/carers regarding this. 

If your child is having any trouble accessing their account or needs a password reset, please ask them to visit Mrs. Baker in C01 as soon as possible so we can get them sorted.

Where did you do your work experience, and what does the company or organisation actually do?

• I did my work experience in the Sutton Civic Centre and my organisation specialises in waste and street cleansing to better sutton 

Did anything you've learned in school — in any subject — actually come up during your placement? If so, what?

• I found that Geography was an important subject for this sector. Understanding city layouts and what is required in the urban landscape.

What was the most surprising or unexpected thing you discovered about working life that nobody told you in advance?

• With maintaining cleanliness in Sutton I realised there's more that goes into creating a safe space for people to live in

What skills did you use or develop during the week — and which of those do you think will be useful in your future career, whatever that turns out to be?

• I learnt how to operate with data graphs to do with information about different boroughs

Has your work experience changed your mind about what you'd like to do in the future — either pointing you towards something new, or away from something you thought you wanted?

• My work experience has made me want to work in a calm office environment if the option was proposed

If you could pass on one piece of advice to a Year 9 student about to do their work experience, what would it be?

• Work experience gives you the best opportunity to see what working in the real world is
