Not every student arrives at Sixth Form with the same starting point — and at CBSC, we believe that shouldn't determine how far a student can go. That's why we're introducing a new three-year pathway into our Sixth Form, designed for students who need an extra year to build the foundations for genuine Level 3 success.

How It Works

Students on this pathway spend Year 12 strengthening the core skills that unlock future opportunity. This means the chance to resit GCSE Maths and English — giving students a real, supported opportunity to secure the grades that open doors to higher education, apprenticeships, and employment. Alongside this, students study a Level 2 V Level in Education, a hands-on, vocational qualification that introduces them to the world of education and child development while building confidence, independence, and study skills ready for Level 3 work.

Years 13 and 14 — Progressing to Level 3

Having built a firm foundation, students move into a full range of Level 3 courses — the same academic and vocational qualifications studied by our other Sixth Form students — completing their studies over two further years. This gives students the time they need to thrive, rather than rushing them into demanding qualifications before they're ready.

Who Is This Pathway For?

This route is ideal for students who:

• Did not achieve a grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and/or English
• Would benefit from an additional year to build confidence and study skills before starting Level 3 courses
• Are interested in exploring education, childcare, or related careers through a vocational qualification
• Want to remain part of a supportive, ambitious Sixth Form community while working at a pace that's right for them
