Careers education at Carshalton Boys Sixth Form is impartial, personal and relentlessly aspirational. We treat university, apprenticeships and employment as equally serious ambitions — and we back every young person to reach the one that is right for them.
We are a non-selective sixth form in one of the most selective boroughs in the country, and our destinations speak for themselves. Some of our proudest outcomes are university places at Oxford, Warwick and the LSE; others are degree-level apprenticeships with Deloitte, Dyson and the Metropolitan Police. We give every route the same weight, the same preparation and the same celebration.
Guidance reaches every student — and it reaches earliest and hardest for those who need it most. Students with SEND progress to university at rates that match or exceed their peers, and disadvantaged students sit among our very highest achievers.

A TWO-YEAR JOURNEY From induction to destination
Careers is not a one-off event. It is woven through both years of the sixth form, building steadily toward a confident, well-prepared decision.
YEAR 12 · AUTUMN Foundations
Our students are exploring pathways, building professionalism and skills for future employment, understanding the labour market and super-curricular experiences, extending experiences through leadership, trips, events and growth within curriculum areas.
YEAR 12 · SPRING–SUMMER Experience & encounter
Virtual placements, the Directions & Destinations careers exhibition, and a full week of in-person work experience with our employer partners to name but a few key areas of development. Students build confidence in understanding the breadth of options and how to be competitive in applications. UCAS goes live in the summer term of Year 12 and we encourage all applicants to attend at least three open days. For our students not considering university, there is a keen focus on ensuring that employment documentation is finessed and students are aware of aspirational apprenticeships and school leaver programmes.
YEAR 13 · AUTUMN Application
UCAS submissions, personal statements and apprenticeship applications, with one-to-one guidance and admissions-test support for competitive routes.
YEAR 13 · SPRING–SUMMER Destination secured
Interviews, offers and decisions — followed through until every leaver has confirmed a positive, planned next step.
