From the first taste of subject research in Year 12 to a confirmed place on results day, our UCAS support is structured, sequenced and personal, ensuring every applicant — whichever institution or course they are aiming for — makes the strongest possible case for themselves.

A CLEAR, SEQUENCED JOURNEY - Our UCAS timeline

Our UCAS support is not a single autumn-term push toward a January deadline — it is a sequenced, whole-cohort programme that begins in Year 12 and is tracked through to results day. Every student, regardless of the course or institution they are aiming for, moves through the same clearly signposted stages: subject and course research, personal statement drafting and redrafting, reference writing, admissions test preparation for competitive courses, and interview practice for Oxbridge and other selective offers. Making this timeline visible allows students, parents and staff to see exactly when support is delivered and to whom, and gives a transparent, auditable account of impartial, whole-cohort guidance building steadily toward each application deadline.

WHERE OUR STUDENTS GO - Two years of destinations

As a non-selective sixth form in one of the most selective boroughs in the country, the range and calibre of our university destinations reflect what is possible when high expectations are held for every student, not a select few. The maps below chart where the Classes of 2024 and 2025 progressed to — from Russell Group and Oxbridge places to strong regional universities and specialist institutions — demonstrating that ambition and attainment at Carshalton Boys Sixth Form are broad-based and consistently high, year on year.

University progression at Carshalton Boys Sixth Form is not concentrated among a narrow, already-advantaged group. Guidance reaches every student — and it reaches earliest and hardest for those who need it most. Students with SEND progress to university at rates that match or exceed their peers, and disadvantaged students sit among our very highest achievers. The destinations shown above reflect the outcomes of a genuinely comprehensive cohort, not a selective one.

This starts long before UCAS applications open. Our Aim Higher pipeline identifies first-in-family, disadvantaged and high-potential students from as early as Year 8, building the confidence, cultural capital and academic stretch needed to make a competitive application — so that by the time formal UCAS support begins in Year 12, no student is commencing from a standing start.

 

HOW WE SUPPORT EVERY APPLICANT- What our UCAS support includes

For every applicant

• One-to-one course and university research, including league table and entry requirement guidance.

• Structured personal statement workshops, with multiple rounds of individual feedback.

• A dedicated reference-writing process, drawing on academic, pastoral and enrichment evidence for every student.

• Support navigating Clearing and Adjustment for students whose results differ from expectations.

For competitive and selective courses

• Dedicated Oxbridge and Russell Group preparation, including admissions test practice (e.g. UCAT, LNAT, TSA) and mock interviews.

• Guidance for super-curricular reading and enrichment to strengthen applications for the most competitive courses.

• Early identification and tracking of high-attaining and first-in-family applicants to ensure ambition is matched with support.
